AWA has its roots beginning in 1980. Founder David Coon then started as a scale service technician trainee In Los Angeles California. An obsession grew into a passion, learning the more difficult weighing applications where the scale controlled other process devices used in automatic filling for drums, pails, tanks, and supply vessels.
12 years in southern California gave exposure to a vast diverse customer base involved in food, cosmetics, chemical, and petrochemical manufacturing. During that time machine building and retrofitting old machinery was routinely performed. After return to Minnesota employment at a few packaging machine manufacturers furthered in-depth knowledge of solids handling of powders and granular materials and their weighing process for packaging in pouches and various bag sizes.
This knowledge combined with others in engineering and technical services who possess the highest quality abilities formed the foundation of AWA. AWA operates as the founders of Corporate structure intended the power to be successful was by enlisting all involved with the business to contribute ideas towards design and operations.
